Saroki Architecture embraced the owners’ wishes to have their home designed in the spirit of European Arts and Crafts architecture. Complete with richly textured stucco, rough-hewn structural timbers, and cedar roof shakes, this home employs tasteful restraint.
Dramatic archways linking rooms visually to one another in graceful fashion define the interior spaces. Proud wood moldings and the delicate stair details of metal and wood create a contemporary counterpoint to the Arts and Crafts precedents they are inspired by. The openness of the plan does not seem possible with such a modest (2,600-square-foot) area.
Combining exquisite craftsmanship with a relaxed ambience, this custom home is a welcome member of its in-town neighborhood.
